About Me:
My name is Juanita, but because it's hard for most young children to pronounce, I have my daycare families call me Miss Nita or just Nita. I graduated from San Leandro High school in 1977 and began working for my family in their craft and hobby store. As there business went into other directions, I decided to stay home with my growing girls. Soon my sister needed help with the care of her premature baby and so started my daycare business. I became licensed and found, to my surprise, that I loved being with children.
It wasn't long before I found myself wanting to grow in the field of Early Childhood Education so that I could make a real difference in the lives I was already touching. I entered the realm of college and found that I was like the children, soaking up all the information I was receiving like a sponge, and I couldn't wait to use it. I was excited when I was invited to join the staff at Folsom Lake College in the Child Development Center. Not only was I teaching children in a center where the teachers believed in the same principles in what I had just learned, but I was also teaching future teachers as they used our center as a lab for the courses they were taking at the college. It was a great experience for me that I will never forget.
My husband Mark and I moved to Amador County in 2002 to live near our families and built our home on 5 beautiful acres. I chose to work at a couple of pre-school centers after moving here, but did not find that they followed the philosophies in childcare that I believed in and was not happy working in them for very long. I decided to open my home to children once again where I knew that I could do the best for the children in my care.
With our own children grown, Mark enjoys wood working and golfing while I am a scrap booker and enjoy a variety of crafts that I learned growing up in my family's business. Our passion is raising and breeding Yorkshire Terriers, or "Yorkies". Small in size and large in personality, they remind me of the children I care for.
I'm excited to bring the experiences that I have had to Nita's Little Learners Daycare now here in Plymouth.
